Four members of the public left injured by stab wounds and vehicle that rammed into them in Manchester.

Police in the United Kingdom say they believe they shot a person suspected of stabbing a man at a synagogue in the north of Manchester.
Greater Manchester Police said in a series of posts on X that they were called to the Heaton Park Hebrew Congregation Synagogue in Crumpsall shortly after 9.30 am (08:30GMT) by a member of the public, who said he had witnessed a car being driven towards members of the public and that one man had been stabbed.

Police said that shots were fired by firearms officers at 9.38am. “One man has been shot, believed to be the offender,” said one post. By 9.41am, paramedics had arrived at the scene, tending to four members of the public with injuries caused by both the vehicle and stab wounds, it said.
Andy Burnham, the mayor of the Greater Manchester area, told BBC Radio the “immediate danger appears to be over”.
